About Sazant Coaching and Consulting

Jesse Sazant is a high performance basketball coach and an executive leader in the education sector holding an exceptional proven track record of coaching, leading and mentoring.

Jesse has combined his business degree and experience with 20 years of teaching in primary and secondary education, and a lifetime of performance coaching, to carve out a unique career path and a wealth of expertise. All of which enables Jesse to deliver transformative learning experiences, mentor others with insight and empathy, and drive meaningful change across educational and performance environments.

Having held many senior roles within education, he is now the Chief Operating Officer of a multi-faceted and complex Multi Academy Trust. Jesse understands and champions exceptional leadership skills, whilst delivering results in rewarding and challenging environments.

Originally from Canada, Jesse has coached at all levels over the last 30 years, including Canadian college basketball at Carleton University, numerous head and assistant coach roles with junior Great Britain and England national teams, junior and senior national league clubs, and is currently the programme lead and head coach of GB MaxiBasketball.

His unique perspective on coaching, has enabled him to consistently develop professional players across the world as well as supporting and mentoring a significant number of coaches into professional and national team appointments.

From his time at Carleton University working with Dave Smart, Jesse's coaching (and life) philosophy is largely based around the fundamentals of mental toughness, accountability and emotional intelligence. He believes that modern coaching practices can miss a key element; how to develop accountability and resilience in today's athletes. He has a real passion for working with coaches and athletes in understanding the importance of this and continues to empower them by offering proven practical strategies and techniques.

The combination of his career path and coaching journey led Jesse to using personality profiling as a tool to teach and develop people's emotional intelligence in both private and public business sectors and various sports. His zest for this topic, led Jesse to begin and continues to deliver training to empower senior leaders and teams to positively impact their communication, collaborative productivity and wellbeing.

Client Feedback

Jesse has been one of the best parts of the GB Maxibasketball program me for me. His basketball IQ is amazing!

His real strength, however, is his work off the court. His advanced knowledge of sports psychology and mental coaching is unparalleled. He takes time to get to know each player on a personal level. He listens, reflects, and guides me to see patterns and develop strategies to help me reach my goals.

I’m in the best mental space I have ever been as a player; strong and confident, with a toolbox full of ways to conquer doubts when they creep in.

I enjoy our casual chats as much as the formal coaching, as Jesse is so personable, welcoming, and warm.

What makes Jesse stand out for me is not just his extensive technical knowledge, but his ability to apply it across every level. He has developed the capacity to design, tailor, and deliver programmes ensuring that every athlete feels both supported and challenged to grow.

Jesse has also brought immense value through the psychological side of performance. His skill in conveying this in a practical, relatable way has been transformative for me.

Jesse leads with openness and vulnerability. His ability to see potential, draw it out, and nurture it has been invaluable for my own development, both on and off the court.
